Showers bring relief from heat
It was the coolest day this summer yesterday with the highest temperature of 28.8 degrees Celsius but the coming high pressure is likely to see it soar back to around 32 to 34 by Thursday.
Intermittent showers helped bring down the mercury for the first time in over a month but the brief respite is unlikely to last long.
The Shanghai Meteorological Bureau attributed the cooler weather to overcast and humid conditions brought by weakening rain belt dominating the Huaihe River regions.
Today’s high is expected to be 32 degrees and will rise by Wednesday and Thursday. It will be mostly cloudy.
The warm and dry condition will fade by Friday as a cold front from the north is forecasted to drive down the temperatures below 30 degrees in Shanghai. A tropical depression formed over the Philippines was upgraded to this year’s 15th tropical storm at 2pm yesterday.
