Smart ideas to make senior life easier
A three-day China International Exhibition of Senior Care Rehabilitation Medicine and Healthcare, also known as China Aid, opens in the city today.
Among the features are a smart bracelet that can send an alarm to emergency services if its wearer falls down and a car with rotating and extending seats to help seniors get on and off easily.
The bracelet can detect the injury level of wearers and is waterproof. It provides ambulance crews with satellite positioning so they can react quickly. It also helps to ensure the safety of the elderly if they are walking alone, organizers said.
The seats of the car can not only rotate, but be extended outside and lowered to a suitable height with the click of a button, allowing elderly or disabled passengers to get on and off easily without the help of others.
More than 1,000 products are displayed at the exhibition, which concentrates on senior care, rehabilitation and health. Held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center in the Pudong New Area, it has exhibitors from 18 countries, including the United States, Germany, France, Russia, Japan and Norway.
Other exhibits include an “exoskeleton robot,” a smart system that can be worn by paralyzed people. The skeleton system supports them to sit, stand, walk and even climb stairs.
