Spring is here, or maybe it isn鈥檛
YESTERDAY marked chunfen or Spring Equinox, one of the 24 solar terms in the Chinese traditional calendar.
However, Shanghai’s meteorological bureau said the start of spring in meteorological terms was still uncertain and rain and temperatures under 10 degrees Celsius would be frequent this week.
Showers should hit the city tomorrow and Friday, but the city should have a respite from rain today and on Thursday, according to the bureau. On Friday, showers will return.
In meteorological terms, spring is announced only when five straight days with an average temperature above 10 degrees are recorded.
According to previous records, the city usually enters spring around March 16.
