Stars turn on happiness to help Coke celebrate

COCA-COLA hosted a series of mega-celebrations at the World Expo site over the weekend as a prelude to its 125th anniversary with tens of thousands of consumers.
Among the highlights of the celebration, a music concert was held Saturday night attended by a number of top stars, including Jacky Cheung, Somali-Canadian rapper K'naan, American Chinese singer Leehom Wang, Taiwanese boy band Farenheit and Chinese singer Jane Zhang.
The concert was a platform to celebrate the Expo and the journey of Coca-Cola in the past 124 years. Coca-Cola aims to leverage its Expo activity to wave a flag for the upcoming 2010 FIFA World Cup of which it is a global sponsor.
The concert was full of highlights and high spirits and over 2,000 passionate fans turned the Expo Entertainment Hall into a sea of red.
For the first time, Jacky, Jane and guest of honor, K'naan, performed "Waving Flag" together, the 2010 FIFA World Cup Coca-Cola theme song to celebrate the birthday of Coca-Cola. The rhythm, full of African flavor and capturing the joy of football, pushed the tempo high.
"Waving Flag" has been played in 150 countries around the globe in up to seven languages.
Since its debut, the Chinese version, with lyrics by Li Zhuoxiong, has captured fans. It has become one of the most popular FIFA World Cup songs and is climbing up music billboards in China.
"I was excited to perform at the Expo site. Both the Expo and FIFA World Cup are in the global spotlight and are carnivals for the whole world," Jacky said.
"I was honored to perform together with K'naan and Jane on the stage for the first time, to celebrate the birthday of Coca-Cola and spread the happiness and passion from Expo and FIFA World Cup to everybody," he added.
K'naan, on his first trip to China, was thrilled by the passion of Chinese fans. "On my first trip in China, this mysterious country, I feel fortunate to experience so many opportunities at the one time," K'naan said.
"I can experience the Expo and wave the flag for it. It is Coca-Cola's birthday so I can perform the song I composed with these two outstanding singers," he added.
In addition, Jane, who performed with the two super stars for the first time, was also excited.
She wished Coca-Cola a happy 125th birthday several times, said she wanted to see Expo pavilions, and gave best wishes for the upcoming 2010 FIFA World Cup.
"The World Expo and FIFA World Cup are both happy events for the whole world and Coca-Cola is a global partner of both," said Glenn Jordan, President, Asia Pacific, Coca-Cola.
"The 'Waving Flag' live show demonstrates three levels of happiness: celebrating Coca-Cola's birthday and the passion of both Expo and FIFA World Cup."
Leehom and Farenheit drove fans crazy with their famous song "Happy 123." Once Leehom stepped onto the stage and the music of "Open Happiness" - Coca-Cola's Happy Factory Pavilion - started, the crowd went wild.
African-based performance artist Baruti, the Coca-Cola Ambassador for 2010 FIFA World Cup, also joined in.
Having brought the FIFA spirit to 12 cities in China, Baruti "Brrrred," the expression he created for Coke, the crowd.
Coca-Cola China kicked-off its "2010 FIFA World Cup Cele-brrrr-ation Campaign" in mid-April. The campaign aims to capture the spirit and excitement of Africa and the Cup, inviting millions of people across China to enjoy and celebrate the global event.
The "BRRRR" celebration tour will include a nationwide search led by Baruti for the best "BRRRR" in China.
Conducted both offline and online, it will allow consumers throughout the country to upload videos and recordings of their own expressions of "BRRRR" to the Internet.
The winner will be determined by a panel of Baruti and Coca-Cola and will become China's "CELE-BRRRR-ATION Ambassador" - traveling with Coca-Cola to visit South Africa for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
