State Council announces dates for 2016 holidays
The State Council yesterday announced the major holiday dates for 2016, including the upcoming New Year and Spring Festival breaks.
The Chinese New Year, and the start of the Year of the Monkey, falls on February 8. The holiday will run from February 7 until February 13, but people will have to work on the previous Saturday and following Sunday — February 6 and February 14. Before that, January 1 to January 3, will be the New Year holiday. Next year’s Qingming or Tomb-Sweeping holiday will run from April 2 to April 4. Workers Day will be April 30 to May 2. Duanwu, or Dragon Boat Festival, will be June 9-11. The Mid-Autumn Festival will be September 15 to September 17, while National Day will be October 1 to October 7.
