HUANGPU riverfront in Pudong New Area will have 22 new tourist information posts by the end of this month, according to the city urban planning and land administration bureau. Information posts along the river in Puxi will also get a facelift.
In Pudong, the service centers will be open from 8am to 10pm. With free Wi-Fi, the stations offer seating for the footsore, water for the thirsty and chargers for the smartphone generation. Toilets will be open 24/7.
AEDs (automated external defibrillator) have been installed in case of emergency.
In Puxi, while the city is building new tourist posts, old buildings are also being renovated to serve the same purpose.
Renovation of the Wing On warehouse, built in 1927, is almost complete. After renovation, it will be a lounge for tourists and sightseeing spot with a river view.
