Students recycle e-waste in return for new gadgets
AN electronics recycling event at Tongji University in Yangpu District yesterday let students turn in old devices in exchange for new Sony products.
Students who turned in such devices as old cell phones, cameras and laptops were eligible to receive a portable hard drive. Those who turned in many smaller gadgets such as MP3 players were eligible for portable chargers.
The “Hello Recycle” electronic wastes recycling event was co-sponsored by the Center for Environmental Education and Communications of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Sony Corporation.
The event was co-organized by Shanghai CEEC and Tongji University’s Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development.
