Suspect in killing of supermarket owner returned to Shanghai

A MAN suspected of killing the owner of a small supermarket with a blunt object in Songjiang District was returned to Shanghai today after he was caught in Zhejiang Province, police said.

The 49-year-old victim, surnamed Yang, the owner of Huating Supermarket, was found soaked in blood in his store Saturday morning by neighbors.

A security guard said he heard someone crying for help when he was patrolling the community. He found Yang lying on the ground, unconscious, with his head covered in blood.

He called for help. Police got in touch with Yang's family.

Police discovered a large bloodstain in front of the cashier's counter and said they suspected Yang was hit in the head with a blunt object. Yang's son said money at the counter was missing.

Yang died soon after being sent to the hospital.

The suspect was caught on Monday in Shangyu in Zhejiang Province.
