Thief flees after running down Line 2 track
A man who jumped from the platform on the track after committing a theft at Lujiazui Metro station on Line 2 yesterday is still on the run.
Normal services were delayed as the man ran down the tracks and triggered a speed limit on trains. Police announced a resumption of regular service about an hour later.
The man, who appeared to be in his 20s, stole a woman’s cellphone at 9:20am when she was waiting for a train at the station.
After she discovered her phone was missing, he returned the phone to her and begged her not to report him to police. But the woman refused and turned to the Metro staff for help.
When police arrived, the man jumped down the platform and ran down the track. The Metro operator immediately stopped the services. Police are still hunting for the man.
