Thousands delayed by glitch on Metro line 2

A system glitch caused trains on Metro Line 2 to drive at a slower speed during the rush hour this morning, delaying thousands of commuters.

The glitch occurred around 7:12am and affected the rail operation between the Century Park Station and the Lujiazui Station.

Crowds swelled at stations of Jing’an Temple and Loushanguan Road, particularly at the People’s Square Station that is a hub for transfer to other lines. Police and extra station workers showed up to direct the crowds.

Shanghai Metro Operator said on its microblog that the glitch had been fixed and the operation had returned to normal at 8:35am.
