Unrepentant professor can't sue
A DISTRICT court has thrown out a lawsuit filed by a university professor who was fired for showing no repentance after getting caught visiting prostitutes.
The professor, who was identified by his surname Qi, asked Yangpu District People's Court to order a resumption in his labor relationship with the university, one of the country's best.
Qi met several junior school girls in a tea house in 2003. He later had sex three times with two minor girls and paid them, the court heard.
Police uncovered the prostitution almost a year later after one of the girls was arrested. The girl identified Qi as one of the clients because he left a name card, according to previous media reports.
Qi was warned by police and fined 5,000 yuan (US$732). Police notified the university.
The university deprived Qi of the title of professor in October 2004.
After that, Qi denied his confession. He said he just made friends with the girls by having sex with them. He gave them financial aid because they came from poor families.
The university fired him in May 2008 for, as it said, "refusing to admit his mistake."
The court said the university's decision was reasonable because Qi didn't possess virtues a teacher should have.
