Unwelcome visitors to compensate landlady
A LANDLADY won a compensation for 1 yuan (16 US cents) and an apology from a housing agent and the property management company who took tenants to her house while she was having a shower.
The plaintiff, surnamed Shi, brought a suit to the Pudong New Area People's Court after she was shocked to see four people in her apartment while she was having a shower in neighboring Suzhou City on October 20 last year.
Shi called police and the strangers were identified as tenants and two housing agents, who got the IC card from the building's property management company which is Shanghai-based but whose name was not revealed.
Shi said the agents brought clients to her house without her permission, which infringed on her privacy. She demanded 1 yuan compensation from them and written apologies.
The court ruled that Shi did sign an entrustment letter but noted that the IC card could only be used after getting permission from her.
