Woman, 74, who lived alone, found dead in apartment

A 74-YEAR-OLD woman living alone was found dead at her home at about 6pm on Tuesday in a community along Xinbei Road in Minhang District, according to today’s Shanghai Morning Post.
The woman lived on the fifth floor of the building. Some neighbors called police after they smelled an odor and hadn’t seen her for a couple of days.
Getting no answer, police called firefighters to open the door. The woman was found lying in the bedroom.
The woman had little contact with her neighbors, according to a neighbor who met with her last weekend. Another neighbor said she might have died from the current wave of high temperatures since she didn’t have an air conditioner.
The woman’s daughter, who neighbors said they seldom saw, arrived at the apartment when police informed her.
