Woman held for bakery theft

A woman has been arrested for having allegedly stolen over 1,000 yuan (US$145) worth of products from a bakery in suburban Jiading District this month, police said on Wednesday.
The suspect, surnamed Liao, was caught stealing a 16 yuan breakfast bread pack last Thursday evening by a shop attendant at the bakery which is located on Zhennan Road at the center of Nanxiang Town, police said.
Liao has allegedly owned up that she had stolen over 50 packs of bread, biscuits and milk products from the same bakery.
Police said about 10 of these thefts were captured on the in-store surveillance cameras.
Liao told police that she was “thrilled” the first time she stole something without being noticed and then went reckless after a few times.
