Woman held for breaking bus windows

POLICE have detained a women who smashed the windows of a public transport bus after the driver refused to let her alight between stops.

The 34-year-old unnamed woman has been sent to detention for 15 days and fined 2,000 yuan, while police wait for a psychiatric evaluation report.

The woman was wearing a mask and traveling on No. 198 bus on Sunday at around 6:40pm.

When the bus left Shaanxi Road S. stop, she asked the driver to stop the bus which the driver refused.

As the bus reached the intersection of Huaihai Road M. and Ruijin Road, she again asked the driver to let her off. Surveillance camera footage from the bus shows the woman going to the back of the bus and removing the emergency hammer. She then went on a spree, smashing four windows and scaring other passengers on the bus.

The driver immediately pulled over the vehicle to the side and called the police while attempting to stop the woman from leaving the bus. The driver said the woman tried to attack him before police arrived at the scene.
