Woman wins payout for botched surgery

A WOMAN who went into hemorrhagic shock while undergoing plastic surgery in 2012 was yesterday awarded more than 319,000 yuan (US$50,000) in compensation by the Minhang District People’s Court.
The clinic at which the woman, surnamed Zhao, received the treatment was not named, but was blamed for causing the shock and ordered to pay total damages of 319,123 yuan.
Zhao underwent an unspecified cosmetic procedure in November 2012, during which she went into shock. She was immediately transferred to another hospital for emergency treatment.
She later filed a lawsuit against the clinic claiming it was unqualified to perform the procedure.
Both Zhao and the plaintiff accepted the ruling, the court said.
