Xinjiang promotes farm goods in Carrefour stores
Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in northwest China is holding a food festival in Shanghai supermarkets to offer local residents more choices of its agricultural products.
The festival, organized by Xinjiang Commerce Department, began on Saturday and promotes 15 kinds of farm products, mainly fruits including Hami melons, walnuts, raisins and pears.
The organizer hopes to sell 170 tons of Xinjiang fruits in the city's 24 Carrefour outlets during the week-long festival.
The products are sourced directly from farmers without middlemen and are about 15 percent cheaper than those sold in other shops in Shanghai, according to the Xinjiang Commerce Department officials.
