Han Zheng meets visiting president of Cyprus
“一带一路”让联系更紧密 韩正会见塞浦路斯总统表示更好促进两国交流合作

IN his meeting with Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades on Saturday, Shanghai Party Secretary Han Zheng said China and Cyprus should build closer ties and strengthen cooperation.
He said China’s “One Belt, One Road” initiative is inspired by the ancient Silk Road. It will bring the two countries closer in economy and trade.
Han said Shanghai is the economic center of China and a window on China’s reform and opening. He believed the president’s visit will help the people of Cyprus better understand a changing China and boost cooperation between the two countries.
Anastasiades said China’s development is impressive. Cyprus is keen to enhance its friendly relationship with China as a member of the European Union. His country will play a role in building mutual trust between the EU and China.
The president said Cyprus supports China’s “One Belt, One Road” initiative and wants to deepen cooperation with China in all fields.
Chen Fengxiang, deputy director of the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee; Liu Xinsheng, Chinese ambassador to Cyprus; and Yin Hong, secretary-general of the CPC Shanghai Committee, were present at the meeting.
