Han Zheng talks with Infosys CEO from India

SHANGHAI Party Secretary Han Zheng met Vishal Sikka, chief executive officer of Infosys Ltd, an Indian multinational corporation that provides business consulting, information technology and outsourcing services, on Monday.
Han congratulated him on the opening of the Infosys Minhang Industrial Park and praised Infosys for running business incubators in the park.
He said the Shanghai government pays close attention to the rapid growth of the AI (artificial intelligence) industry which is still young but its fast development is beyond people’s expectations.
AI technologies have spread to all aspects of our life and work, bringing both challenges and opportunities, Han remarked. Shanghai authorities are making every effort to boost the growth of the AI industry and hope to cooperate with companies like Infosys in talent training, innovation, and creating good business environment.
The Party chief welcomes domestic and foreign companies to participate in Shanghai’s transition into a global innovation center.
Sikka said the IT service industry is rapidly changing and the AI sector is facing both challenges and opportunities. Infosys Ltd is changing from a labor-intensive service outsourcing company into an AI service provider. His company wants closer cooperation with Shanghai.
The CEO continued that the Infosys Minhang Industrial Park is India’s biggest overseas investment project and represents Infosys’ strategy to set up more business incubators worldwide.
Sikka said Infosys put its China headquarters in Shanghai and its business has been growing smoothly. The company will further open up to the public and provide internship for Chinese students and on-the-job training for workers of other companies so that more people can join in the city’s AI development.
