Mayor and Norway PM talk about building ties
愿与挪威深化经贸等合作 应勇会见索尔贝格首相一行

SHANGHAI Mayor Ying Yong met visiting Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg and her delegation on Saturday.

He briefed the guests on Shanghai’s economic and social development, and said China set up pilot free trade zones to show the world its determination for market opening, economic globalization, and facilitation of trade and investment.

Yang said Shanghai is accelerating the construction of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone according to the plan of the central government and is practicing international standards in the zone with transparent rules, fair and efficient administration, and improved business environment for traders and investors.

The mayor said Norway has advantages with its open economy and shipping industry. Shanghai is keen to strengthen cooperation with Norway in economy, trade, shipping, culture and education and to forge strong ties with Oslo, the capital of Norway.

Solberg said Norway and China have normalized their relationship. Both countries can expand cooperation in many fields, including environmental protection, science and technology, and education.

Norway and Shanghai face the same challenges in urban transport and elderly care, and the two places have enormous potential for cooperation in commerce and shipping. She hoped the two sides can work together for win-win outcomes.

Norwegian Ambassador to China Svein Ole Sæther and Chinese Ambassador to Norway Wang Min also joined the meeting.
