一如既往支持侨商发展 杨雄会见侨商侨胞代表
THE Shanghai government will continue to support overseas Chinese in developing business in the city, Mayor Yang Xiong told a group of overseas Chinese businesspeople on September 26.
Shanghai Mayor Yang Xiong met representatives from the Shanghai Overseas Exchange Association and the Committee of 100, a group of prominent Chinese-Americans, on September 25. He welcomed them for participating in the association’s 2014 conference to discuss Shanghai’s future development.
Tan Tianxing, deputy director of the State Council’s Office for Overseas Chinese Affairs, and Shanghai Vice Mayor Weng Tiehui were present at the meeting in Huating Hotel.
Yang thanked overseas Chinese for their contribution to Shanghai’s economic and social development. He said the city is pushing for innovation and economic transformation and speeding up industrial restructuring. Since last year the municipal government has been supporting the construction of China (Shanghai) Free Trade Zone according to the decision of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the State Council and exploring regulatory reforms to facilitate investment in the zone and accumulate reform experiences for the whole country.
Yang said the overseas Chinese should seize the opportunity of Shanghai’s development to expand their own businesses and actively participate in the construction of Shanghai FTZ. He said the municipal government will continue to support them in developing businesses in the city. He hoped the Shanghai Overseas Exchange Association and Committee of 100 can play a bigger role in Shanghai’s development.
Chen Yongcai, Xu Rongmao, Guan Dequan, Chen Dajiang, Shi Gongqi, Tu Haiming and other representatives said they were impressed by Shanghai’s development and will participate in the construction of the free trade zone and contribute good ideas for the city’s future development.
