Mayor meets visiting crown prince of Abu Dhabi
杨雄会见阿联酋阿布扎比王储谢赫穆罕默德

SHANGHAI Mayor Yang Xiong met Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi of the United Arab Emirates, yesterday. He said Shanghai maintained frequent exchanges with Abu Dhabi and other emirates in recent years and laid a solid foundation for closer cooperation.

The mayor said Shanghai is drafting its 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020) to accelerate its transformation into an international center of economy, finance, trade and shipping as well as a global innovation center.

Yang remarked that Shanghai has carried out administrative reform in the free trade zone to facilitate investments and trade and open up the financial sector. This created new opportunities for cooperation between Shanghai and other countries.

He said he believed the crown prince’s visit will further strengthen friendship and cooperation between Shanghai and the emirates, including Abu Dhabi, in economy, trade, science and technology, education and culture.

Sheikh Mohamed said Shanghai has changed dramatically since his last visit 25 years ago. The UAE puts its ties with China as one of the top priorities and will increase exchanges with China and participate in China’s economic development.

The crown prince said he believed Shanghai will play a key role in strengthening UAE-China relationship.

Chinese Ambassador to UAE Chang Hua and UAE Ambassador to China Omar Ahmad Adi Al Bitar also joined the meeting.
