SHANGHAI Mayor Yang Xiong on August 18 met a delegation from the Hong Kong Professionals and Senior Executives Association led by Lo Wai-kwok.

Yang thanked the association for promoting cooperation between Shanghai and Hong Kong. He said the two cities established a mechanism for trade talks in 2003, which has played a key role in strengthening cooperation between them.

Yang said Shanghai is striving to transform its economy through reform and innovation and the successful experiences of Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone will be introduced nationwide.

Yang vowed that Shanghai will continue to improve business environment and establish a “green channel” for trade between the two cities. He said he hoped the association can use advantage of its talent resources to enhance Shanghai-Hong Kong cooperation.

Lo and other members of the delegation said their association is following trends in the Shanghai FTZ as well as the creation of a “green passage” for Shanghai-Hong Kong trade.

They promised to utilize their talent pool to promote trade and prosperity of both cities.
