Shanghai Party Secretary Han Zheng meets with Swiss President Schneider-Ammann
韩正会见瑞士联邦主席施奈德—阿曼 期待与瑞士各地开展双赢合作
SHANGHAI Party Secretary Han Zheng met with Swiss Federal Council President Johann Schneider-Ammann and the delegation that arrived with him last week.
Han told Schneider-Ammann that China and Switzerland have been traditional friends and diplomatic ties had grown smoothly over 66 years.
Han said Chinese President Xi Jinping and Schneider-Ammann had confirmed during their talks in Beijing that the two countries will set up innovative strategic partnerships. Han said it proved that ties between the two countries were set to develop further.
The Shanghai Party secretary said that after more than 30 years of reform and opening up, the Chinese economy has merged deeply with the world economy so much so that Chinese economic growth had an impact on the world and vice-versa.
Han said China was continuing to strengthen development and deepen reforms. The Shanghai government was focused on real economic development and dealing with problems such as housing, transport and aging. He hoped that Shanghai would be able to cooperate with Switzerland in fields such as commerce and trade that could benefit both sides.
Schneider-Ammann said that Switzerland was one of the first Western countries to recognize the People’s Republic of China and participate in China’s reform and opening. It was also among the first batch of European countries to ink deal with China for free trade agreements and join the Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank.
The Swiss president said ties between China and Switzerland had developed soundly due to mutual respect since 1950.
He hoped the innovative strategic partnership would be a new platform to further solidify relationship between the countries and enhance exchanges and cooperation in all fields with Shanghai. It would be a win-win development for both.
Chinese ambassador to Switzerland Geng Wenbing and Shanghai Party Committee Secretary-general Yin Hong also joined the meeting.
