Shanghai Party boss meets Australian PM and delegation

SHANGHAI Party Secretary Han Zheng met Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and his delegation on yesterday.
Han said China and Australia share common interests in many areas and have good foundation for cooperation. Shanghai has close ties with Australian cities and states, particularly Queensland. The two have active exchanges in business, science and technology, and culture after establishing sisterly relationship 27 years ago.
He said China developed rapidly through 30 years of reform and opening. Shanghai will stick to the policies of innovation, coordination, green development, market opening, and mutual benefits.
The city is going all out to build the Shanghai Free Trade Zone and turn itself into a global innovation center. Shanghai wants to cooperate with countries like Australia in its development. Han welcomes Australian companies to come to Shanghai and supports local enterprises to invest in Australia.
Turnbull said he was pleased to be the first Australian prime minister to visit China after the Australia-China Free Trade Agreement took effect.
The two countries have solid foundation for cooperation in economy, trade and other areas. Turnbull said he was leading a large delegation to seek more opportunities for cooperation with China.
The prime minister noted that Shanghai is a dynamic economic center of China and plays a big role in boosting trade, economic cooperation, cultural and education exchanges between the two countries. He hoped more Australian companies can get involved in the development of Shanghai Free Trade Zone and there is an increase in exchanges between young people on both sides.
Shanghai Vice Mayor Tu Guangshao joined the meeting and accompanied Turnbull to attend an Australian Week activity at noon at Shanghai Expo Center.
