Shanghai to share Expo experiences with Kazakhstan

SHANGHAI Mayor Yang Xiong met Kazakhstani Ambassador to China Shakhrat Huryshev in Shanghai on November 16.
Yang said that China-Kazakhstan relationships develop well and Shanghai is keen to make more friendly exchanges and cooperation with Kazakhstan.
Yang continued that Shanghai is striving to develop the China (Shanghai) Free Trade Zone. The government will further facilitate investment, trade and financial reform through system innovation, which will also offer convenience to cooperation of Chinese and Kazakhstani companies.
Yang also said that the implementation of China’s “One Belt, One Road” strategy will provide broader space for cooperation.
The mayor pledged that Shanghai welcomes Kazakhstani companies to join “One Belt, One Road” strategy and the FTZ to share development opportunities.
Since Kazakhstan will host the 2017 Expo Astana, Shanghai will share its experiences, he said.
Yang pledged that Shanghai will continue to keep its openness to further enhance cooperation in fields such as economy, trade, education and tourism and improve mutual understandings and promote mutual development with Kazakhstan.
Huryshev said that Kazakhstani and Chinese top leaders visited each other frequently in recent years and the two countries’ ties have been improved to a new height.
He said the Kazakhstani government pays close attention to the construction of the Shanghai FTZ, hoping to learn its development experiences and Kazakhstani companies are also keen to participate in the construction of the FTZ.
Huryshev added that the Kazakhstani government is preparing the 2017 Expo Astana and hopes to learn the successfully experiences of the 2010 World Expo Shanghai and take the opportunity to cooperate with Shanghai and other Chinese cities in tourism.
Kazakhstani consul general in Shanghai Gabit Koishibayev also joined the meeting.
