Yang Xiong and Adecco CEO agree on the role of talent

SHANGHAI Mayor Yang Xiong met Alain Dehaze, chief executive officer of Adecco Group, on Wednesday.

Yang said that talented people are Shanghai's most valuable resource. The city's development relies on a large number of skilled professionals.

He said Shanghai has made progress in its transformation into an international center of economy, finance, trade and shipping. The Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone has operated for two years and attracted many domestic and foreign companies with good investment policies.

Shanghai is also becoming a global innovation center and is luring talent from everywhere in China and the world, the mayor added, pledging better environment for foreign professionals to work and live in the city.

Yang said he hoped Adecco, a multinational human resources agency based in Switzerland, and other recruitment agencies could contribute to Shanghai's development with their professional services and expertise.

Dehaze said he was impressed by Shanghai’s economic achievement. Talented workers, both Chinese and foreign, are a crucial driving force behind the city’s drive to become an international center of economy, finance, trade and shipping as well as a global innovation center.

He told the mayor that his company will increase investment in Shanghai and upgrade its services to serve the city's development.

Adecco Group now ranks 446th among the Fortune 500 companies in the world.
