Yang Xiong meets Telstra’s former and new CEOs
上海创新创业将更加活跃 杨雄会见澳大利亚电信负责人

SHANGHAI Mayor Yang Xiong met David Thodey, formerly the CEO of Telstra and now vice chairman of the International Business Leaders Advisory Council for the Mayor of Shanghai, and his successor at Telstra, Andrew Penn, on Monday.

Yang thanked Thodey for his contribution to the council and said Shanghai is taking advantage of its free trade zone to speed up administrative and financial reforms and to increase the opening of the service industry.

He added that the Shanghai government issued 22 policies to promote business start-ups and innovation as the city aspires to become a global innovation center. There will be a lot of business incubators and innovation activities in the city.

The mayor welcomed outstanding companies like Telstra to join in Shanghai’s effort to develop the free trade zone and the global innovation center.

Thodey and Penn spoke about the role of science and technology in shaping the world. They said they are glad to see Shanghai striving to become a global innovation center and carrying out reforms to attract talent and high-tech enterprises. Telstra is keen to help Shanghai become a global innovation center and cooperate with the city in innovation.
