1 killed, 39 injured as buses collide in Jiangsu Province
ONE person was killed and 39 others injured after two buses collided in neighbouring Jiangsu Province at noon today.
A bus from Shanghai, carrying more than 40 passengers, was hit by a Suzhou bus on Taihu Bridge. One of the injured passengers was rushed to the Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University and was said to be in serious condition, the Suzhou Television Station reported.
Thirty-eight others were rushed to the Mudu People's Hospital.
The bus was returning from Jinting Town in Suzhou.
A witness said the Suzhou No.58 bus veered from its lane suddenly and collided head-on with the Shanghai bus.
The leg of the Shanghai bus driver was stuck, the report said.
The bridge was sealed off after the accident.
One of the injured passengers, surnamed Zhang, said they work for a Shanghai company and were on their way back when the accident happened.
