100,000 yuan to name new landmark
THE winner of a competition to name a new landmark in Guangzhou, capital of southern Guangdong Province, will pick up 100,000 yuan (US$14,600).
The new 610-meter-high TV tower, set to start operating next year, will be the highest in the world, China News Service reported today.
The new TV tower will have two ellipse balls with a rotating restaurant and a viewing area at the top.
The name of the new TV tower should be Chinese with no more than five characters, and competition organizer Guangzhou Daily will announce the final winner on November 12, exactly one year ahead of when the 16th Asian Games start in Guangzhou.
Candidates can enter the contest at www.dayoo.com until October 9.
