103 poisoned by gas leak in SW China
A total of 103 residents in a southwest China city have been poisoned by gas after pipes of a steel factory leaked yesterday evening.
The pipes of the steal factory in Guigang City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, leaked around 8pm, releasing carbon monoxide. Among the 103 poisoned by the gas, 14 showed serous symptoms, but were out of life danger, China National Radio reported today.
Firefighters turned off the valve to stop the toxic gas three hours after the accident happened.
The environmental authority was monitoring the air quality.
