11 die in Hangzhou landslide

ELEVEN people died in a landslide late last night on Qingliang Hill in Hangzhou after a rainstorm while two others are still missing, China National Radio reported today.

Most of the victims were migrant workers building a road nearby, the report said.

The building collapsed at about 11:30pm at Linzhu Village on Qingliang Hill near the capital of Zhejiang Province.

The 13 people were buried after the city experienced a heavy rainstorm, with 88 millimeters of rain falling from 4pm to 6pm yesterday, the report said.

Cai Qi, the mayor of Hangzhou City, went to the site to assist with rescue work at 2am this morning.
