11 missing in Sichuan landslide
ELEVEN people are missing after a landslide struck a village in southwest China's Sichuan Province today, said local officials.
Four households, with a total of 11 registered residents, were unaccounted for after the landslide at Xujiaping Village, Mianning County, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, said a statement from the emergency response office of the provincial government, which reported the accident at 9 am.
It was unknown whether all the 11 people were at home when the accident happened early today, so the exact number of people missing was still to be confirmed, it said.
Rescuers are continuing to search the debris.
