1.1m yuan reward for head-shot killer
POLICE are offering 1.1 million yuan (US$172,953) for information leading to the arrest of a man suspected of killing six people during robberies.
Officers described the killer as particularly cold-blooded as he always attempts to shoot victims in the head.
The Ministry of Public Security has published a photograph of the middle-aged man and put him on the country's most wanted list.
The suspect is believed to have carried out six armed robberies in Changsha, capital of central China's Hunan Province, and southwestern city of Chongqing, between April 2004 and this June.
In addition to the six people killed, two were injured. The robber's hauls are said to have totaled 280,000 yuan.
The man is in his 40s, around 1.7 meters tall, of medium built and has a Sichuan accent, according to the ministry.
Police are offering 100,000 yuan for information on the suspect's identity and 1 million yuan for information leading to his arrest.
Four of the armed robberies occurred in Changsha, news portal Yunnan.cn reported.
A man opened fire during an attempted robbery on June 28, before fleeing empty-handed.
In October 2010, the same man killed a victim during a robbery, according to police.
In December 2009, the same robber killed a man with a shot to the head and robbed him of 45,000 yuan.
Two months earlier, he shot dead a man with a home-made gun, the report said.
Two earlier crimes attributed to the same man took place in Chongqing.
In May 2005, the gunman and an accomplice snatched a bag, shot dead a couple and injured a pedestrian.
And in April 2004, the same man is said to be responsible for killing one woman and wounded another after robbing them of 70,000 yuan, according to the report.
Police concluded the crimes were committed by the same suspect as the methods employed were very similar.
