12 killed, 3 hurt in pileup

TWELVE people were killed and three others were slightly injured in an expressway pileup yesterday morning in south China’s Guangdong Province, local authorities said. The accident happened about 2am on the Yuegan Expressway when a truck loaded with wood overturned, causing a pileup of cars and trucks in its wake. Five of the vehicles burst into flames. The injured people have been hospitalized, and traffic will be resumed soon, authorities said.
