13 officials disciplined
THIRTEEN officials in a southern China city have been disciplined over the illegal demolition of two apartment buildings in November 2008.
Four of them - a judge, two bailiffs and a notary clerk - were referred to judicial departments for criminal charges including accepting bribes and abusing their powers.
All had played roles in a real estate development project in Hengyang City of Hunan Province involving state-owned assets worth 15 million yuan (US$2.2 million), Hunan's Rednet.cn news portal said yesterday.
Two developers involved in the project, surnamed Yang and Duan, have been arrested for alleged encroachment, falsifying official documents, illegal trespassing upon the residence and damaging private and public properties.
It was reported that some residents had been beaten up during the demolition.
