14 Xinjiang terrorists shot dead after killing 2 policemen

Two policemen were killed last night while trying to arrest terrorist suspects in Shufu County, near Kashgar, western Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, local authorities said this morning.

A mob armed with knives attacked the police around 11pm last night as the officers were pursuing suspects in the town of Sayi Bage. Two officers died in the attack.

The attackers hacked at policemen and also threw explosives at them, officials said.

The officers shot 14 assailants to death and arrested two. Police investigation of the case is ongoing.
