15 held after sex racket busted
POLICE have cracked down on an online forum that promoted breastfeeding among adults, the Ministry of Public Security said in a statement yesterday.
It said the “Wet Nurse Forum” was a front for prostitution, providing its more than 200 members with breastfeeding, sex and porn movies, since its launch in September 2013.
Police started investigating in June this year after media lifted the lid on the racket. The investigation, which lasted until September, netted 15 suspects in Beijing and in the provinces of Hebei, Hubei, Jiangxi and Guangdong, the ministry said. Three of them have already been prosecuted.
Media reports had claimed earlier that people paid anywhere between 300 to 1,680 yuan (US$50 to US$250) to become a forum member and another 10,000 yuan as commission fees for the “services.”
The forum claimed to have a large pool of breastfeeding young mothers at its disposal.
Members were required to share their experiences with wet nurses and some of them posted pictures of naked women and crumpled bed sheets, suggesting nurses had been involved in paid sex.
A Beijing police officer told The Beijing News there were no laws against breastfeeding adults, but those who paid for sex were breaking the law.
