16 accidents in a foggy section of G4 claim 7 lives

IT was a deadly morning yesterday on a section of the National Highway G4 when 16 traffic accidents occurred one after another, killing seven people and injuring dozens -- 10 in critical condition, Xinhua reported today.
The first accident happened around 6:18am in the Lichuan-Changsha section of G4 in Hunan Province when three vehicles collided together, leaving one dead and two injured and causing a big fire. At about 7am five trucks piled up just 1 kilometer away, killing one driver and injuring four. At 10:40am another collision occurred about 7 kilometers away, involving seven trucks.
Hunan traffic police said there had been a total of 16 traffic accidents in the section by noon. All the injured people were sent to nearby hospitals.
Heavy fog and fatigue driving were the main causes of these accidents, police said.
