19 injured as UFO ride at temple fair malfunctions

Nineteen people were injured when a ride at a temple fair malfunctioned in Henan Province yesterday afternoon, People’s Daily reported today.
One person was seriously injured but all victims were said to be in a stable condition, the report said.
The accident happened around 5pm yesterday when the rolling beam of the UFO ride cracked in Xinxiang City, according to the newspaper. More than 10 people were sent flying from the ride, it added.
The ride was shut down.
Police said they have the operator in custody while they investigate the case, the report said.
