2 Chartered flights to get Chinese out of Egypt

AIR China and Hainan Airlines will send two chartered flights to Cairo, capital of Egypt, today to pick up Chinese stranded in the airport, the state television CCTV reported.

Air China's A330 aircraft left for Cairo at 11:30am. The chartered flight can carry 265 people.

Hainan Airlines' flight, with a seating capacity between 250 and 280 people, departed at noon and is expected to fly back to Beijing tomorrow noon.

There are about 500 Chinese travelers now being trapped at the Cairo International Airport as violent protests and armed robberies have sent foreigners and local people into panic in a riot-torn city.
