2 Internet-addicted boys kill 4 in New Year rampage

POLICE in central Hunan Province detained two Internet-addicted teenage boys after they allegedly stabbed and burned one boy's grandfather for money and killed a six-year-old witness and his parents.

Police in Xinhua County said the 14-year-old suspect, Xiao Lin, asked his grandfather, 78, for 60 yuan (US$9.05) to play with his classmate, identified as A-Tao, at 2pm on New Year's Day.

But the old man refused and scolded them for indulging in cybercafé. The two boys got angry and tied him to a chair, forcing him to show where the money was. When he rejected them again, Xiao Lin allegedly hacked him several times in the neck until he became breathless.

The boys then dragged him onto the bed and burned it with a lighter, Sanxiang Metropolis Daily reported today.

After that, they heard "You killed granny!" from a little boy standing outside the house. Xiao Lin allegedly lured the six-year-old boy into the room and stabbed him to death.

The two suspects got frightened when the boy's foster parents shouted in search of their son. At 3pm, they allegedly lured the father, 78-year-old Chen Heqiu, to a hill and hacked him to death. They then went to Chen's home where his disabled wife was lying on bed, killed her ruthlessly and robbed the house before running away.
