2 arrests in molestation case
A PRINCIPAL and a housing bureau clerk have been arrested for allegedly molesting six primary school girls in Wanning City, Hainan Province.
The principal, surnamed Chen, of Wanning City No. 2 Primary School, and the clerk of a local housing administration, surnamed Feng, were arrested on child molestation warrants based on evidence against them, prosecutors said yesterday.
Meanwhile, the Wanning's disciplinary watchdog said both Chen and Feng had been expelled from the Party and sacked from their positions.
Surveillance cameras captured four girls entering two rooms at Green Spring Field Hotel in Wanning on May 8 with Chen entering one room and leaving from the other the next morning, a previous report said. Feng stayed with the other two girls the same night at Dazhou Island Resort Villa, the report added.
The girls, all in grade six, appeared to be dopey and were drowsy when they were found on May 9 and the following day.
The parents suspect their children were drugged and then sexually abused after tests at Wanning People's Hospital last Friday. The Beijing News reported the parents of five girls said they were told their daughters' hymens had been broken.
Two mothers told the newspaper they saw the medical report that said their daughters were raped.
"Both of us signed our names. We didn't ask for a copy and the hospital didn't give us one," City Sun newspaper cited one mother as saying.
According to Chinese criminal law, people convicted of child molestation can face five years of imprisonment.
