2 die from H7N9 flu infection in Zhejiang
TWO people have died of H7N9 bird flu in east China's Zhejiang Province, bringing the total number of deaths nationwide from the disease to 20, health authorities said yesterday.
A 76-year-old farmer surnamed Luo, who died yesterday morning, had fallen ill with flu-like symptoms on April 8 and a 62-year-old woman surnamed Wang, a native of Huzhou City, died despite medical efforts on Saturday evening after she had been diagnosed with H7N9 avian influenza on April 14, a statement from the provincial health department said.
The department also reported five more cases of H7N9 bird flu infection, including Luo, in its statement, bringing the total number of infection cases across the country to 101.
The other four patients, - a 68-year-old woman, and men aged 58, 79 and 81 - are all in a critical condition, officials said.
