2 foreign drug traffickers seized in Xinjiang airport

TWO foreign drug traffickers carrying 1,155.4 grams of heroin were seized at the airport in northwest China's Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, a spokesman with the airport's frontier inspection station said today.

But the spokesman did not disclose the names or nationalities of the drug traffickers.

The two traffickers were apprehended when going through customs prior to entering the country at midnight on September 1.

Police later found 1,155.4g heroin inside their bodies.

The Urumqi International Airport is Xinjiang's largest international port linking central and western Asia, as well as a major drug smuggling tunnel to China.
