2 girls starved to death after drug-addict mom disappears
TWO toddler girls aged 1 and 3 were found dead in their home in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province this morning. Neighbors said the two girls probably starved to death after their mother abandoned them.
Nanjing police said the girls' mother surnamed Le, 22, was a drug taker and was just punished in February.
The neighbors said the girls' father was a criminal and is still in prison. Police gave Le 800 yuan (US$130) a month as living allowances for the two kids.
When Le asked the police for money this month, the police wanted to see the two kids before giving the money. They visited Le's home twice this week but no one answered their call.
Police asked a locksmith to open the door this morning and found the decomposing bodies of the two girls.
Police are investigating the cause of their deaths and are looking for their mother.
