2 injured after container rolling off truck crushes car

A LOADED container rolled off a truck and partially flattened a car, but two people in the car, an Audi sedan, survived with injuries despite heavy damage to their vehicle.
The accident occurred at around 7am yesterday on a national road at Zimao Town in southeast China’s Fujian Province.
Witnesses said the truck made a sudden left turn to avoid crashing into another car, causing the container to topple, the local Strait Metropolis Daily reported today.
The Audi, which had stopped beside a guardrail waiting to cross the road, was partially crushed. The driver, surnamed Qian, and his employee, surnamed Huang, were able to crouch down in time to avoid being killed.
“I didn’t see clearly why it suddenly made a turn,” Qian said. When he saw the container was about to fall, he got down, though he was reported to have a fracture of a thoracic vertebrae and cuts from broken glasses.
Huang was found lying on her side by rescuers. She was found to have a slight cerebral concussion.
Police were checking into the speed the truck was traveling when it swerved. The truck driver, surnamed Liu, was being held by police as the investigation continued.
