2 killed by mall knifeman

TWO people were killed and 12 injured when a man went on a stabbing spree in a shopping mall in northeast China’s Jilin Province yesterday afternoon.

One person died at the scene of the attack at 3.30pm in the mall in Yanji City, Xinhua news agency reported.

The other victims were sent to Yanbian Hospital for treatment, where one died.

Police held a local man, 25-year-old Cui Zhenyu, at the scene in connection with the attack.

Relatives of Cui are reported to have said that he had been treated for depression.

Police said they are still investigating the attack.
