2 men executed in Beijing for murdering 9 women

A Beijing serial killer has been executed for murdering nine women in two and a half years. Before his death on May 27, the convict said he took the lives of innocent women to avenge the death of his elder brother, Jinghua Times reported today.

Song Jinghua, 33, killed his victims because they all looked like the ex-girlfriend of his elder brother, who was executed in 1997 for robbing and killing a taxi driver. Song suspected it was the ex-girlfriend who tipped off to the police. He himself was jailed for six years as an accomplice.

In 2005 he met Yan Jinguang and they became good friends. Together they robbed and killed nine young women aged 16 to 28. Song would single out the target who looked like his brother's girlfriend and induce her to their car in which the victim was strangled to death and robbed.

Since most of the murdered women had a very small circle of friends, their disappearance went unnoticed for a long time, Beijing police said.

Song was caught again in November 2007 after killing his woman neighbor who saw Song hiding a human head. Song later told the police that he wanted to stop killing but just couldn't control his impulse.

His accomplice, Yan Jinguang was executed with him on the same day, Jinghua Times reported.
