2 police held for woman’s death
TWO more police officers have been arrested in north China’s Shanxi Province for beating a migrant worker to death, local authorities said yesterday.
The suspects, surnamed Guo and Ren, were charged with abusing their power, the People’s Procuratorate of Taiyuan, Shanxi’s capital, said on its website.
A previous investigation showed that 47-year-old migrant worker Zhou Xiuyun died in a brawl with police at a construction site on December 13. A police officer surnamed Wang was arrested for allegedly causing her “unnatural death.”
Guo and Ren are suspected of being responsible for breaking Zhou’s husband’s ribs in the dispute.
A team is negotiating with Zhou’s family to perform an autopsy to determine the exact cause of her death.
